Edo Jidai Travelling BuddhaThis is a little jewel. A plain black laquered travelling case opens up to reveal a splendid gilt carved Buddha. The lacquer on the case is well worn and the patina shows this was an object often carried around by one of its owners on its travels up until now. Only 8. 5cm high and 4. 5cm wide this would have been an object for personal and private devotion. This dated from the Edo era, 1603 to 1868.
